Privacy policy

Last updated: May 2026

LB Solicitors Ltd ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website and in the course of providing legal services. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we look after it.

What we collect

  • Contact details you give us through forms, chat, phone or email — name, contact information, and a summary of your matter.
  • Chat transcripts from our digital-receptionist widget — stored encrypted at rest and automatically purged after 90 days.
  • Booking information when you book a consultation via our online calendar.
  • Anonymous analytics (page views, referrer) via Plausible. We do not use cookies for analytics. We do not track you across other sites.
  • Case data once you instruct us — this is governed by our retainer letter and held subject to professional confidentiality.

Why we collect it

  • To respond to your enquiry (legal basis: legitimate interests / consent).
  • To provide the legal services you instruct us to (legal basis: contract).
  • To meet our regulatory and legal obligations (legal basis: legal obligation).

Who sees it

Your personal data is seen only by Lucy Brakewell and, where strictly necessary, specialist sub-processors who help us run the firm: our email provider (Resend), our SMS provider (Twilio), our database host, and the AI service that powers our digital receptionist (Anthropic). All sub-processors are bound by data-protection agreements.

We will never sell your data, share it for marketing, or pass it to third parties unless required by law or by your express instruction.

How long we keep it

  • Chat transcripts: 90 days, then automatically deleted.
  • Unsuccessful enquiries: 12 months, then deleted.
  • Closed case files: 7 years from file closure (SRA standard retention).

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, port, restrict and (in some cases) erase your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, contact lucy@lb-solicitors.co.uk.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/concerns.

Security

We are Cyber Essentials certified. We use TLS in transit, AES-GCM encryption for chat transcripts at rest, and role-based access controls. Our digital infrastructure is independently audited.
